Welcome Home
Please Help Us...  We are looking for members interested in forming an Honor Guard unit for our Post.  The purpose of the American Legion Post 413 Honor Guard:

-    To provide military rites for deceased, honorably discharged veterans
-    To participate in a limited number of parades
-    To present programs on Americanism, Flag and other Patriotic Ceremonies to grade, high schools, scouts and others as requested
-    To participate in Veterans Day, Four Chaplains Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Flag Day Ceremonies

The "Final Salute" rendered by the Honor Guard is a reverent and solemn service to bid farewell to our departed comrade.  Too often a veteran is not given a "Final Salute" because the family wasn't aware that such a service existed.  It is OUR JOB to make known to all veteran families that we are here to serve our departed.  It is our honor and duty to provide a military send-off for a deserving veteran that offered his/her life for the good of the country.

The "Final Salute" consists of a prayer, the firing of the rifles, the sounding of taps, the folding and presenting of the American Flag under which this veteran served.  A poppy is then placed on the urn or casket signifying this veteran will not be forgotten.  A salute is executed with a blessing that the veteran "Rest in Peace".  There is no charge to the Veterans Family for the services performed but donations are accepted.  The money would be used to purchase uniforms for members, ammunition for rifles, upkeep of the rifles and other items as they occur.

Any regular member of Grand Blanc Post 413 is eligible.  Preferable a retired member since the schedule of funerals are typically morning and early afternoon.  If you are interested, contact Greg Kensbock 810-814-9087 or Wayne Bortner, Commander at Post.
